  • Class Description

    In this class you will learn the fundamentals of Elimination Communication, or Infant Potty Training. It's your 101 class on Potty Training a baby from 0-18 months old. Parents may choose to take this course prior to the birth of their baby or after the birth once they are familiar with their baby's rhythms.

    Babies are born to communicate with us. They ‘tell us’ from a very young age that they need to go, but over time we condition them to just go in their diaper. In many countries around the world, babies are potty trained by 12-18 months using Elimination Communication.

    Come learn the ancient and natural non-coercive way of potty training. It's not only environmentally friendly, it is hygienic for you, your baby, and others.

    This course will teach you everything you need to know to get started ECing with your little one. The class will cover:

    -How to EC part-time, full time, or even occasionally
    -Troubleshoot common problems
    -Cover what gear you need to get started
    -Much, much more!

    Lauren Miller Brown is a San Francisco Bay Area native who specializes in providing nurturing, connective, therapeutic massage, doula services and childbirth education classes. She has been a birth doula for since 2007 and feel very fortunate that she is so passionate about her work and that she found it at such a young age. Her work continues to inspire her to this day and she can't imagine doing anything else.

    Lauren's road to birth work began after taking a Doulas of North America training in 2007. After completing her Doula certification she enrolled in Alive and Well! The Institute of Conscious Bodywork in Marin County. Lauren completed her massage training in 2008 and has been working as a bodyworker ever since. After massage school, Lauren worked as a massage therapist at The Mindful Body in San Francisco from 2009-2015, focusing on prenatal massage in particular, as well as with a wide variety of clients, including athletes, yogis, and San Francisco's tech community.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this class but it exceeded my expectations.

The pace of the instructor's presentation was relaxed but informative. I learned that you can pick and choose when to do EC based on what you're comfortable with. It isn't a linear process.

Thinking about potty training/elimination in the same way we think about feeding and hunger. Look...

The facilitator did a great job of making the class fun and interesting despite it being a weekday evening. We had a good time!

Realistic tools to incorporate EC into everyday life

Liked sharing examples of what works/challenges for each participant. It was a little long & a lot of material for one evening, perhaps only because I’m mother of toddler. Perhaps divide into 2 shorter evening classes.
