Every day that I work here I am grateful for families who care so deeply about their children and their own experience of parenting that they seek out information, support and good cookies and hot tea here at Natural Resources.
Yesterday a mama was in the store and our store manager was talking to her for about 20 minutes, just sitting with her as she expressed what looked like some serious emotions. I didn't question "why is my store manager sitting around not doing anything, just listening to that woman who is crying?", I simply helped the other customers on the floor and everyone got what they needed.
In our busy work-a-day, rush-rush world, I find Natural Resources to be very unique. And I'm not even a mother, just a Doula, a childbirth educator, a patient advocate and the interim general manager of the store. Still, there is something so lovely about coming in here and seeing parents taking care of themselves and their children, about the sound of a baby crying and someone attending to him right away, about the way that toddlers go right for our play area and are so creative in their play and about the way people here really care. Much to be thankful for.
